EXHIBITION-FAIRS START IN BAKU

Exhibitions-fairs opened in Baku on Saturday. Farhad Aliyev, the Minister for Economic Development, and officials of the City Executive Power attended the opening of the fairs held in the area of Narimanov, Ganjlik and Azizbayov subway stations.

The fairs are intended to support the local production, to familiarize the buyers with the potential of local production. "Every deliberate citizen of the country will be interested to prevent outflow of capital, favoring the local production and the entire economy. However, it doe not mean that the producer should benefit the chance and manufacture non-qualitative goods at high prices," the Minister stressed.

Aliyev underlined that the initiatives on organization of exhibition-fairs will continue. "We plan to hold such events in many regions of the country. In the near prospect it is planned to hold such air in Sumgayit,” the Minister said.

300 enterprises, representing many regions and cities in the sphere of agriculture production, textile, construction materials, TV-sets and word processors, bottles, carpet-making, wine-making, put their products and goods for show. The sale prices of goods are lower than the market figures.

The exhibitions will last by 11 September.

In accordance with the presidential decree on вЂ�Strengthening anti-inflation measures’, dated 31 May 2005, heads of the executive powers of Azerbaijan, Ganja, Sumgayit and other big cities are charged jointly with the relevant municipalities to organize fairs in different places every week on mobile sale of agriculture products and consumer goods with regard to form healthy rivalry. A similar fair was held in Lankaran on 27August and in Ganja вЂ" on 2 September.
