Azerbaijan prepares to build large agro-energy complex

Preparatory work has begun in Azerbaijan for the construction of Samukh agro-energy complex, representative of the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources Jamil Melikov told journalists.

According to him, project works as well as preparations are underway for the construction of a new complex.

"In particular, some technical issues are being resolved and excavation works undertaken," Melikov said.

The complex provides for the creation of hybrid power plants with total capacity of 16 megawatts. Electricity produced in this complex will seek to meet the needs of agriculture, in particular for the supply of greenhouses.

Industrial power plant will run on biogas. It is expected that this facility will be commissioned in two years, and large-scale livestock complex will be created near to supply biological raw materials to the plant.
