Iran and Poland have started a new round of talks over crude oil, LNG, and natural gas trade.

The talks started while Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Janusz Piechocinski is in Tehran with a delegation of 150 business officials and investors, Mehr news agency reported September 26.

"The first step toward a new chapter of relations between the two countries is signing a crude oil trade contract," Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said.

He added the sides also arranged for LNG export to Poland, adding that the country has some good terminals for LNG imports.

Zanganeh also said the Polish representatives had expressed willingness to cooperate in Iranian petrochemical sector.

The underground storage of gas as well as fuel consumption optimization were other topics discussed in the meeting.

Piechocinski's visit comes in line with a surge in foreign political-economic trips to Iran by Western officials in the wake of the Iran nuclear deal which was reached July 14.

Called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the deal curbs Iran's nuclear program in return for lifting economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
