The shale oil output at the fields in largest US oil producing regions will increase by 2,000 barrels per day to 4.542 million barrels per day in January 2017, as compared to December 2016, according to the Drilling Productivity Report of the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Currently, the oil production in the country in December is estimated at 4.540 million barrels per day.

The biggest increase in shale oil production is expected in Permian region (37,000 barrels per day to 2.126 million barrels per day). Niobrara and Marcellus will see an increase of 3,000 barrels per day and 1,000 barrels per day, respectively, in January 2017.

This is while the biggest decrease in oil output is expected in Eagle Ford (23,000 barrels per day to 980,000 barrels per day). The output will drop by 13,000 barrels per day in Bakken region in January 2017.

Moreover, EIA expects the US to increase the gas production by 88 million cubic feet to 47.508 billion cubic feet per day in January 2017. Currently, the gas production in the country in December is estimated at 47.420 billion cubic feet per day.
