Work on the construction of a wind power plant in Yereimentau (about 90 kilometers from Astana, north of Kazakhstan) will be completed at the end of this year, the chairman of the Kazakh "Samruk-Green Energy" LLP Zhomart Mominbaev told Trend.

"Some 13 wind electric installations of 22 planned ones have already been installed. Their installation will be completed in December 2014. And it is just the beginning, as the work is carried out with a view to increase the installed capacity of wind power up to 300 megawatts. That will be enough to provide 80,000 apartments with energy, according to specialists," he said.

The installed capacity of wind power plant in Yereimentau is 45 megawatts.

The chairman of the LLP board announced that the construction of the wind power plant will be financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Mominbaev said that both Kazakh and foreign companies are involved in the construction of the facility.

"Wind power plant in Yereimentau will produce 172.2 million kilowatt hours of 'clean' electricity per year and will fully provide facilities for EXPO with it from the beginning of its construction," said the head of government.

Kazakhstan has already approved a feasibility study (FS) and carried out environmental impact assessment of the project of park construction of wind power plants in the area of ​​the Yereimentau city with a total capacity of 50 megawatts.
