ZTE, China’s telecommunications equipment company, is considering promoting its mobile division in Azerbaijan, Director General of ZTE Azerbaijan Nurlan Azimov told Trend.
Azimov said that this is currently at the planning stage and the negotiations with the ZTE head office are being held so that ZTE Azerbaijan would receive functions to promote its mobile division.
“Nowadays, ZTE not only produces infrastructure telecommunications solutions, but also smartphones,” Azimov said. “Currently, ZTE Azerbaijan deals exclusively with the promotion of infrastructure telecommunications platforms, while the regional office of the company deals with the promotion of user devices. I believe that in the near future we will be able to present ZTE brand smartphones to the market.”
The Chinese company has long been present in the Azerbaijani market, and during this period it implemented several major joint projects with public and private communication operators of Azerbaijan, Azimov added.
“Currently, ZTE telecommunications equipment is used by Baku Telephone Communications Production Association for the construction of a next-generation network (NGN),” he noted.
“The company's solutions are also used in the construction of 3G network by mobile operators, and the Wireless Multiple Access (WiMAX) network of Azqtel LLC company is also based on ZTE solutions.”
