Azerbaijan, Estonia to develop co-op in e-gov’t sphere

Azerbaijan and Estonia will further develop cooperation in the e-government sphere, reads the text of the protocol of the third meeting of the Azerbaijani-Estonian intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation held in Baku.

The protocol specifies concrete areas of cooperation between the parties in the area of ​​building e-government, exchanging experience and enhancing the human resources capacity in the e-government sphere.

This direction implies cooperation in the formation of e-services, including mobile ones, the study of the Estonian experience in creating the infrastructure of e-signature and e-ID.

Increasing the personnel potential in the ICT and e-services is one of the important points of cooperation of the parties in the e-government sphere, and the relevant structures of Azerbaijan intend to learn from the Estonian colleagues’ experience in this field. For these purposes, the Azerbaijani side intends to expand cooperation with the Estonian e-Governance Academy.

In addition, the protocol also specifies the possibilities for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Estonia in the field of information security at the level of CERT (computer emergency response team) of both countries and the exchange of experience in this field.

It is envisaged to encourage e-commerce, expand cooperation in the field of satellite communications, construction project of the Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM), nanotechnology sphere, etc.

The parties also expressed their readiness to render all possible assistance in supporting IT companies in the implementation of projects in both countries.
