Uzbekistan to construct 30 CNG filling stations in 2014

Uzbek-Korean joint venture (JV), Kor UNG Investments will complete the construction of around 30 compressed natural gas filling stations in Uzbekistan by late 2014, a source at Uzbekneftegaz national holding company told Trend on April 24.

The JV started the implementation of the project for construction of about 50 CNG stations in 2012. The project cost $42.8 million. Later, the cost of the project and the number of stations to be constructed was increased.

The changed project with total cost of $105 million, envisages the construction of around 60 CNG stations with the capacity of up to four million cubic meters of compressed natural gas in all regions of the country.

The project is financed by the founders of the JV, as well as with the borrowed funds.
The JV has commissioned about 30 CNG stations to date.

The government of Uzbekistan adopted a program on phased transfer of vehicles to gas fuel in the country in 2007. It is planned to construct 138 CNG stations with the total reservoir of 708 million cubic meters of compressed gas and around 952 filling stations with the total capacity of 476,000 tonnes of liquefied gas throughout the country.

There is no data about the production volume of natural gas and liquefied hydrocarbon gas in Uzbekistan in 2013.
