Iran truck output ups by 47.6 percent

Some 1,094 trucks were produced Iran in the third calendar month of the current Iranian calendar year (May 21 - June 20).

The figure shows 47.6 percent increase compared to the same month of previous year, Iran's ISNA News Agency reported on July 13.

Iran had produced 741 trucks in the third month of the previous year.

Some 223,023 cars have been produced in Iran in the first quarter of the current calendar month (March 21 - June 20).

The figure shows 79.8 percent increase compared to the same period of time previous year, Iran's TASNIM News Agency reported on July 2.

Sedan cars accounted for 189,849 percent of the mentioned amount, some 78.5 percent more than previous year.

Iran also produced 30,986 pickup trucks, 2,089 trucks, 40 buses, and 14 minibuses in the mentioned period.

Iran produced 989,110 cars in 2012, which made the country Asia's eighth largest car manufacturer.

Iran also stood at the world's 18th place.

China, Japan, South Korea, India, Thailand, Turkey, and Indonesia were Asia's seven largest car manufacturers.

Iran's automobile output faced 40 per cent decrease in 2012. The country was Asia's 5th largest car manufacturer in 2011, with a total output of 1,648,505.

Increasing prices of raw materials and foreign currencies are the main problems that the car manufacturers are facing with.
