SOCAR slightly increases oil production from its own fields

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) produced 2.8 million tonnes of oil from onshore and offshore fields of the country in January-April 2014 compared to 2.75 million tonnes of oil in the same period of 2013, SOCAR said on June 10.

SOCAR develops the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) block of oil and gas fields and the Shah Deniz gas and condensate field jointly with foreign partners.

In total SOCAR produced more than 8.31 million tonnes of oil in 2013 compared to 8.24 million tonnes in 2012.

Some 14.52 million tonnes of oil were produced in Azerbaijan in January-April compared to 14.41 million tonnes in January-April last year.

Totally 43.48 million tonnes of oil were produced in Azerbaijan in 2013 compared to 43 million tonnes in 2012.

SOCAR includes production association Azneft (companies producing oil and gas on land and sea), production association Azerkimya (chemical industry), production association Azerigas (gas distribution).

In addition, the state energy company has a number of processing and service enterprises as well as institutions involved in geophysical and drilling activities.
