Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attracted the officials' attention at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers to the priorities associated with the formation of a versatile system of Turkmen energy transportation to the world markets, the Turkmen government said.
The president urged for further promotion of Turkmenistan's international initiatives in the formation of a new global energy security structure.
The instructions were given to the heads of the fuel-energy complex to further develop the oil and gas sector, attract foreign investments in large-scale projects, including - the development of new hydrocarbon fields, construction of gas-chemical facilities, technical re-equipping of oil refineries.
At present, Turkmenistan has an opportunity to export natural gas to China, Iran and Russia. The gas pipelines that are planned to run from Turkmenistan include the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline (through the Caspian Sea and Azerbaijan to Europe) and the Trans-Afghan Pipeline (to Pakistan and India).
The country has put forward several initiatives to ensure reliable and stable supply of energy resources to the world markets within the UN.
Turkmenistan considers it appropriate to intensify the energy dialogue within OSCE, to formulate the mechanisms for multilateral consultations on political, financial, economic, technological and environmental aspects of construction and operation of the multiple pipeline infrastructure.
The production of these volumes is planned to be increased up to 230 billion cubic meters by 2030, mainly for export.
