President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during the meeting with heads of regional administration, discussed the course of seasonal agricultural work, in particular the care of wheat seedlings, the country's government said in a message Apr. 19.

This year, it is planned to collect 1.6 million tons of grain from 760,000 hectares of land in Turkmenistan. More than 1.4 million tons of grain were grown in 2015.

The Turkmen president instructed to ensure full readiness of combine harvesters, vehicles, as well as elevators and barns, noting that not much time is left before the harvest begins.

In addition, stressing the need to comply with agro-technical standards and implement quality care for crops, Berdimuhamedov "expressed dissatisfaction with the weakening of control in this sphere."

Noting that the current situation may lead to lower yields, the president instructed to take urgent measures for the rapid elimination of shortcomings.
