The State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted presentation of major investment projects being implemented in the country, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said in an article Apr. 27.

The event was organized for Qatari delegation led by Hamad Saleh al Qamra, the chairman of Qatar’s Al Qamra Holding Group.

Turkmenistan and Qatar pay special attention to improving the investment climate, expanding the domestic market, introducing innovations and increasing volumes of the export of goods, according to the article.

A number of key segments of the two countries’ national economies, including fuel and energy complex, transport and communications sector, as well as the chemical and medical industry were named among the main vectors of interaction.

Large-scale projects that play an important role in strengthening regional energy security and creating powerful international transit and transportation hub based on Turkmenistan’s experience were also presented at the meeting.

It should be recalled that Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during negotiations with the Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha March 15-16, 2017 said that Turkmenistan is interested in discussing the issues related to the participation of Qatar’s big financial and investment structures in the implementation of transnational Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.

Berdimuhamedov also noted that Qatar is one of leaders on the export of liquefied natural gas.

Construction of the Turkmen section of TAPI was launched on Dec. 13, 2015.

The annual capacity of the gas pipeline will reach 33 billion cubic meters.

The total length of the TAPI pipeline will be 1,814 kilometers. A 214-kilometer section of the pipeline will run through Turkmenistan, a 774-kilometer section will run through Afghanistan and an 826-kilometer section will run through Pakistan.
