Uzbekistan’s President Islam Karimov is being treated in an intensive care unit after suffering a brain haemorrhage on Aug. 27, said the president’s daughter Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva.

“My father was hospitalised after suffering a cerebral haemorrhage on Saturday morning, and is now receiving treatment in an intensive care unit. His condition is considered stable. At the moment it is too early to make any predictions about his future health,” she wrote on her Instagram page Aug. 29.

“My only request to everyone is to refrain from any speculations, and show respect to our family's right to privacy,” she added. “I will be grateful to everyone who will support my father with prayers.”

Official Uzbek media disseminated a message of the country’s Cabinet of Minister on Aug. 28, which says that President Karimov is hospitalized. The message said also that along with a complete medical examination, the Uzbek president will need follow-up treatment that will take time.
