Uzbek People's Democratic Party approves presidential nominee

The congress of the central council of the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (PDPU) approved of the previously made decision to nominate Hotamjon Ketmonov, chairman of the party’s central council, as a candidate for president, PDPU press service reported.

The congress of the central council of the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (PDPU) approved of the previously made decision to nominate Hotamjon Ketmonov, chairman of the party’s central council, as a candidate for president, PDPU press service reported.

Uzbekistan presidential election is scheduled for Dec. 4, 2016.

Off-year elections in Uzbekistan are held due to the death of Islam Karimov who passed away after suffering a stroke at the age of 79 on Sept. 2.

Four political parties of Uzbekistan are allowed to participate in the presidential election.

Among the presidential candidates are Shavkat Mirziyoyev nominated from the UzLiDeP, Sarvar Otamuratov from "Milly Tiklanish" DPU, Nariman Umarov from “Adolat” SDPU, Hotamzhon Ketmonov from PDPU.
