Uzbekistan increases electricity production

Enterprises of the Uzbekenergo JSC, which brings together the biggest power stations of Uzbekistan, produced 59 billion kilowatt/hours of electricity in 2016, which is 4 percent more than in 2015, the press service of the company said in a message Jan. 23.

During this period, customers received 7.5 million Gcal of heat energy versus 8.2 million Gcal in 2015.

Currently, Uzbekistan’s power grid has 45 power plants with a total capacity of about 13,000 megawatts, including 16 power plants of the Uzbekenergo JSC having a total capacity of 12,040 megawatts.

Up to 90 percent of the electricity is produced at Uzbekenergo’s 10 thermal power plants with a total installed capacity of 10,600 megawatts.

The remainder of the electricity is generated by autonomous thermal power plants of the industry enterprises and small hydroelectric power stations belonging to the Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources.
