President Hassan Rouhani in a telephone conversation with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday congratulated him on the occasion of the victory of the Justice and Development Party in the neighboring countryˈs municipal elections, IRNA reported.
President Rouhani described high turnout of Turkish people in that countryˈs municipal elections as a democratic victory in an important Muslim country.
The Iranian president also said that Tehran prioritizes the expansion of bilateral ties with Ankara.
The Turkish prime minister, for his part, thanked President Rouhani, and said, 'These elections were response of the Turkish people to the baseless accusations through ballot boxes'.
Erdogan underlined the need for the implementation of recent Tehran-Ankara agreements, and said, ˈGod willingly we will see the expansion of Iran-Turkey relations in the current year.ˈ
