Iran's seafood export tariff to Turkey has been decreased by over 30 percent, Isa Golshahi, an official with Iran Fisheries Organization, said.

Goldshahi said that after signing a preferential trade agreement by the two countries the export tariff was decreased from 16 percent to 5 percent, Iran's ISNA news agency reported on Jan 27.

He added that the decision could increase seafood exports to Turkey by three folds to 3,000 tons per year.

In January 2014, Iran and Turkey signed the agreement with the goal of boosting bilateral trade. The preferential trade agreement took effect on January 1, 2015.

According to the agreement, 125 items of Iranian goods and 140 items of Turkish goods will be traded based on preferential.
