Iran's exports to Europe registered a 7.5 percent increase in terms of value year-on-year and stood at $820 million during the first half of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21-Sept. 22).
The Islamic Republic exported 938,000 tons of goods to the European countries in the six-month period, which indicates a fall by 21.26 percent in comparison with the same period of preceding year, the Iranian Customs Administration said in its latest monthly report released Oct. 4.
European markets shared 4.98 percent of Tehran 's total non-oil exports' value during the period. Meanwhile, the European countries exported over 5.1 million tons of goods, worth $4.611 billion to Iran during the 6-month period from March 21 to Sept. 22.
The Islamic Republic's imports from the Europe registered a fall by 12 percent in terms of value and 13.7 percent decrease in terms of volume respectively compared the same period of preceding year. Iran 's imports from Europe accounted for 22 percent of the country's total imports' value.
Switzerland was the Islamic Republic's main European trade partner during the period. The country exported over $1.14 billion worth of goods to Iran, indicating a rise by 27.2 percent year on year. Switzerland stood at sixth place among the countries exported goods to Iran.
Germany was the next top European goods exporter to Iran with $890.2 million worth of exports (indicating a fall by 31.3 percent), followed by Italy ($447.5 million worth of goods, 7.4 percent fall), France ($360.8 million, 17.8 percent increase), Netherlands ($339.6 million, 30.6 percent fall), and Russia ($281 million, 15.6 percent fall).
Tehran's non-oil exports (including condensates) stood at $20.5 billion in the first half of current fiscal year, while imports accounted for $20.85 billion.
