Iran’s industrial output up 6.8%

The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has announced that the industrial production index (IPI) was supported by a 6.8 percent year-on-year increase in manufacturing sector over a period of nine months since the current Iranian calendar year began on March 20, 2016.

The CBI report however did not provide further information about the output in the mining, electric and gas industries.

The CBI said the group of “repair and installation of machinery and equipment” saw the highest level of surge (37 percent) over the mentioned period year-on-year.

According to the report, the output of the manufacturers of computer products fell by 29 percent, registering the biggest decline over the mentioned period.

Iran's unemployment rate during the year starting on March 20, 2016 stood at 12.4 percent as about 3.2 million Iranians were unemployed over the mentioned period.
