West making strategic mistake if it prevents nuclear deal- Iran says

Tehran, Iran, July 10

By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:
The West will have made a grave mistake if it prevents a deal on Iran's nuclear program, Ali Larijani, speaker of the Iranian Parliament said.

He said the Western side of the nuclear negotiations is selling its need to hold talks with Iran as an advantage, Tasnim news agency reported July 10.

"The thing is quite clear. Iranians are kind in heart, but are not fools. It was you who asked for talks. If you bring the talks to a dead-end, then you will have made a strategic mistake against Iran's flexibility," the senior MP stressed.

For the talks to lead to a dead-end will not be in the interest of the Western countries, he stated.

In all sections of the nuclear industry there is readiness to speed up activities quickly, Larijani stated. He added that the Iranian parliament is closely following the nuclear negotiations and will not allow a wrong move.

Iran and the group P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) are holding negotiations to reach a comprehensive agreement on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.

The sides failed a deadline of July 10 to strike the deal and they have given their talks another extension.

A deal would limit Iran's nuclear program and in return lift economic sanctions on the country.

The deadline was set to meet the start a 30-day review period by the US Congress. But now US lawmakers will have 60 days to examine any document, which will delay the lifting of US sanctions.
