By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Yukiya Amano, will visit Tehran this week.

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali Akbar Salehi, said that 12 experts of the IAEA are to arrive in Iran today and Amano will also visit Tehran in the next three to four days, Iran 's Fars news agency reported Sept. 15.

Salehi, who was in Vienna to take part in the IAEA's 59th General Conference, said Iran's past and present nuclear activities were discussed with Amano.

"We signed an agreement in Vienna with Amano. We also signed a memorandum of understanding, which is ordinarily signed by the agency's members on some aspects of the inspection process. But, such memorandums are not usually declared," Salehi said.

"This issue is being followed up seriously. It is hoped that our discussions would gain result, so that a final agreement should be reached by Dec. 15 as a prerequisite for the joint comprehensive plan of action to take effect."

One of the most debated aspects of the nuclear agreement between Iran and the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) is the inspection of military sites, which may require addressing past military activities.
