There are good opportunities for Iran and South Korea to improve ties in the areas of human rights and war on terrorism, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said.

The two countries have always carried for mutual respect and Tehran is ready to expand ties with Seoul in various areas, Zarif stated during a meeting with South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se in Tehran November 7, ILNA news agency reported.

He also highlighted the significance of "diplomacy" in resolving the conflicts, citing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action as an example.

The Iranian FM hoped that the JCPOA opens new chapter in economic relations between the two countries.

Iran and the group 5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) reached a nuclear deal and finalized the JCPOA in Vienna on July 14.

Yun also said that South Korea is ready to deepen relations with the Islamic Republic.

He also noted that Iran plays a very important role in regional developments. The two countries can help establish peace and security in the Middle East region, Yun stressed.
