Some foreign consulates based outside of Iranian borders have been trying to equip the Islamic State (IS, ISIS, ISIL, Daesh) terrorists against Iran, according to Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the Ground Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

“However, they have failed to do anything, thanks to the IRGC’s preparedness. The IS are in Iraq’s Diyala Governorate and are sure interested in approaching the Iranian borders. But they dare not come nearer and, if they do, we will smash them, the same as last year and this year when some IS-affiliated groups were smashed and their members arrested in western Iran,” Pakpour said, Tasnim news agency reported February 18.

He added that since 2010, the IRGC created security infrastructure in western Iran in order to eliminate some related weaknesses that had helped insecurity.

“Now, however, we have full intelligence dominance over the anti-revolution forces. In past years the terrorist activities had reached 200 to 300 kilometers into the country. That was when we took over the area and started creating security and jobs,” Pakpour said.
