Iran's Ministry of Health has made plans to organize the reception of health tourists, Iran's Health Tourism Strategic Council Secretary Mohammad Panahi said.

Health tourism centers are going to be given identification information whereby the entrance of foreign patients will be organized by the Health Ministry, Panahi said.

He further said that through the health tourism centers, the Iranian Health Ministry will assign a doctor to each visiting patient.

The centers will receive patients arriving via land, sea, or air.

Iran's income from medical tourism is about $350,000 annually, Gholamhossein Shafei, the chairman of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Mines said last October.

Medical tourism revenues in the world amounted to $100 billion in 2012, he added.
