A quake, measuring 4.1 degrees on the open-ended richter scale, shook Khoy, a city in northwestern West Azarbaijan Province, at 23:42:16 hourse local time (19:12 GMT) on Wednesday.

A quake, measuring 4.1 degrees on the open-ended richter scale, shook Khoy, a city in northwestern West Azarbaijan Province, at 23:42:16 hours local time (19:12 GMT) on Wednesday, IRNA reported.

According to the seismological unit of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake was felt at 38.64 degrees latitude and 44.54 degrees longitude.

The epicenter of the quake was registered at the depth of six kilometers. No report is yet available on likely damage.

Iran experiences frequent earthquakes. In 2003, a magnitude-6.6 earthquake killed some 26,000 and flattened the historical city of Bam.
