The former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Mohsen Rezaee has registered as a presidential candidate in Iran.

Mohsen Rezaee was one of the founders and first commanders of the IRGC. He led the organization for more than 15 years. He is currently the Secretary of the Advisory Council of Iran.

Rezaee began his political career after 1997. He also put forward his candidacy for the 2005 presidential elections, but withdrew it two days before the election. He also announced his candidacy for the presidential elections in 2009, but received a small number of votes. Rezaee protested against the election results, but later refused from it.

The 11th presidential elections in Iran are scheduled for June 14, 2013.

The voters will choose the successor to the current president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who may not be elected to a third term in accordance with the constitution of the country.

The Iranian president is elected for a term of four years.
