Military Prosecutor of Azerbaijan begins 84 criminal proceedings on the bribery and corruption, Military Prosecutor Khanlar Veliyev said at a board meeting of the Military Prosecutor's Office. The meeting was held with the participation of the central staff, military prosecutors of Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic and the territorial military prosecutors.
A number of violations with regard to unjustified exemption from military service, illegal granting of deferred from military service based on the conclusion of the military medical commissions and receiving bribes from parents of conscripts were revealed in a result of inspections conducted by the Republican Military Prosecutor's Office in the military commissariat, Veliyev said. The Military Prosecutor's Office filed a criminal case under Article 311.1 (bribery, passive bribery), 313 (falsification of the job), 341.1 (abuse of power, abuse of power) of the Criminal Code in relation to military commissars of some areas.
After the completion of the preliminary investigation of criminal cases brought against Commissioners of Khatai and Surakhani districts of Baku, and cases of officers of the military commissioners of Jalilabad and Aghdam districts, materials were sent to the courts for consideration.
Investigation of criminal cases against officials of military commissioners of Binagadi district, Sumgait city, and Nizami district of Ganja is at the stage of completion.
During the reporting period, authorities of the Military Prosecutor's Office, having implemented certain work on repayments of the material damage caused to legal entities and individuals as a result of misappropriation, abuse of office, neglect of service and other similar crimes by those guilty, provided during the investigation, payment of 50.6 percent of the material damage.
