In Ottawa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Canada K. Zhigalov presented his credentials to Governor General of Canada, David Johnston, the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.

In Ottawa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Canada K. Zhigalov presented his credentials to Governor General of Canada, David Johnston, the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.

As part of the conversation with Johnston, held after the official ceremony, Zhigalov informed the Governor-General on the current socio-economic situation in Kazakhstan and measures for further development of the country defined by President Nursultan Nazarbayev in his address to the people of Kazakhstan in January.

For its part, Governor General of Canada D.Dzhonston appreciated the efforts made by Kazakhstan in the sphere of nonproliferation of nuclear weapons and emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the ROK and Canada in the field of interethnic and interreligious dialogue.

The parties also noted the high potential and the positive prospects for the further development of bilateral Kazakh-Canadian cooperation.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Canada.
