President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received a Kazakh delegation led by chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament Nurlan Nigmatulin.

President Aliyev said Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan relations had been rapidly developing. The president recalled his recent meeting with Kazakh leader Nursultan Nazarbayev in Sochi. He praised political relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. The president noted the role of parliaments in strengthening the bilateral cooperation. President Aliyev said the two countries were actively cooperating both in bilateral format and in international organizations. The president said the visit by the chairman of the Mazhilis of the Kazakh Parliament would contribute to broadening the two countries` relations.

Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Kazakh Parliament Nurlan Nigmatulin said he was received by President Nazarbayev before embarking on a visit to Azerbaijan, adding the Kazakh leader told him to extend to the Azerbaijani president his greetings and best regards as well as his wishes for peace and prosperity of the Azerbaijani people.

Nigmatulin emphasized the role of friendly ties and mutual respect between national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Nazarbayev in the development of the two countries` relationship.

He said that friendly contacts between the heads of state were presently contributing to expanding these relations too. Nigmatulin handed over a letter of Kazakh leader to President Aliyev.

They discussed prospects for broadening Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan cooperation in various fields.

The Azerbaijani president asked to convey his greetings to his Kazakh counterpart.
