Some 1,576,000 persons were deprived of driver's licenses in Turkey last year, "Anadolu" agency reported today.

According to the report, the majority (1,379,000) of driver's license deprivations were related to driving while intoxicated incidents. Moreover, 173 persons were deprived of a driver's license due to driving at excessive speeds. The remaining 174,000 were deprived of a license due to exceeding the limit of penalty points.

The report also notes that, the number of driver's license deprivation cases due to driving while intoxicated has increased in comparison with 2011. In particular, 1,317,000 persons were deprived of driver's license on this reason in 2011.
