Starting in January 2014, Turkey will toughen penalties with regard to passengers violating the flight rules, Turkish Anadolu agency reported on Dec. 28.

A penalty of 10,000 Turkish liras ($4,648) will be imposed in case of any activity that can cause a threat during the flight, according to the report.

It was also reported that, the passengers who continue using their electronic devices, who do not sit in their places and do not fasten their belts, and those who quarrel with the plane's crew and smoke cigarettes will be fined 1000 Turkish liras ($464).
