A general meeting marking the 70th anniversary of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) has been held.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the meeting and addressed the event.

Azerbaijan, Mexico mull prospects for expanding bilateral ties in tourism

Azerbaijan and Mexico have discussed the possibilities of expanding the bilateral ties in the sphere of trade and tourism, said the message from Mexico's embassy.

The discussions were held during the visit of the director of ProMexico (trust fund of Mexican government) in Istanbul, Jorge Alberto Cruz Abascal to Baku at the invitation of Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO).

Mexico interested in developing energy co-op with Azerbaijan

Ambassador of Mexico in Azerbaijan Rodrigo Labardini met with the Vice President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) for Investment and Marketing Elshad Nasirov, said the press release by Mexican Embassy in Baku.

The sides expressed mutual interest in possible cooperation between oil companies of Mexico (Pemex) and Azerbaijan (SOCAR).

Japanese banks to finance AzerSky satellite system

"Azercosmos" OJSC signed a loan agreement with the Japanese Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Mizuho Bank in the amount of 100 million euros for 11 years, "Azercosmos" said.

The loan guarantees will be ensured by the French export credit agency COFACE.

The loan will be used to finance AzerSky satellite system and to establish the ground infrastructure.

Azerbaijan to simplify customs declaration

Azerbaijan is going to simplify the customs declaration used in export and import operations, Jafar Guluzade, employee of Customs Control Organizational Head Office of the country's State Customs Committee said.

He made the remarks during the workshop on "Simplification of customs procedures and operations used for creating favorable conditions for business entities".

Moreover, Guluzade said that the State Customs Committee plans to introduce a simplified form of declaration for the export and import of energy resources via pipelines and electricity transit.

Azerbaijani president receives British delegation

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a British delegation including member of the House of Lords, representative of the Labour Party, founder of the Senate Consulting Ltd and project manager of "Discover Azerbaijan: Baku 2015 Edition" book Lord David Evans.

The delegation also included member of the Conservative Party Lord Richard Risby, members of the UK Parliament, representatives of the Labour Party Roger Duncan Godsiff, Stephen James McCabe, Patrissia Scotland and Executive Director of the Senate Consulting Ltd Caroline Minshell.

Azerbaijan improves position in energy sustainability ranking

Azerbaijan has improved its position by 16 points in the annual ranking of energy sustainability, calculated annually by the World Energy Council (WEC) and the consulting firm Olivier Wyman, said the message on the WEC website published.

This year, in terms of energy sustainability, Azerbaijan took the 55th place among 130 countries, while last year it took the 71st place.
