Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi has arrived in Iran on an official visit to to hold talks with Iranian officials, Press TV reported.
Heading a parliamentary delegation, Nujaifi arrived in Tehran on Saturday and was welcomed by Majlis Vice-Speaker Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard at Mehrabad International Airport.
Upon arrival, Nujaifi said strengthening ties particularly parliamentary ones were among the objectives of his visit.
In a short meeting with the Iraqi official at Mehrabad International Airport, Aboutorabi-Fard also said that Iran and Iraq shared common political views on regional developments.
Nujaifi is scheduled to hold talks with President Hassan Rouhani, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani.
Earlier this month, in a visit to Iraq, Zarif described Tehran and Baghdad cooperation as necessary for the promotion of peace and stability in the region.
