By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

Georgia maintains its free trade regime with Russia, Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze said at the press conference after the meeting with Austrian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Integration Sebastian Kurz in Tbilisi on Sept.10.

She stressed that soon after Georgia signed an association agreement with the European Union and ratified it, there was spread information that Russia is going to cancel the free trade regime with Georgia.

"This agreement was signed in 1990s and it is currently in effect. Russia didn't take any official step proving this information, which means that the free trade regime with Russia is in effect," Panjikidze added.

The minister underscored that Georgia and Russia held an experts' meeting in Prague in order to clarify the new regulations.

"The meeting was attended by the representatives of economy and finance ministries.

They clarified all the possible new details of our trade and economic relations," Panjikidze said, adding that another meeting will be held in the case of necessity.
