Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Secretary General of the European Trade Union Confederation Bernadette Segolene Oct. 29.

The sides discussed a wide range of issues related to the protection of human rights, Garibashvili's press-office said.

Georgia's implemented, ongoing and planned labor and employment reforms were discussed.

The prospects of improving the labor market were discussed. Segolene expressed readiness to assist in the implementation of the commitments undertaken by Georgia according to an agreement of association with the EU.

Garibashvili thanked the European Trade Union Confederation for the protection of labor rights in Georgia and the efforts made in this direction.

He added that the Confederation has always supported and actively helped the trade unions of Georgia, especially recently.

Several important meetings were held among representatives of Georgia's trade unions and the members of the European Parliament in 2009-2012 in relation to the unstable situation in Georgia during that period. These meetings were organized by Segolene.

The Confederation brings together the largest trade unions of all EU member-states and protects the interests of 60 million working people.
