Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili implemented a number of reshuffles in the state structures, the press service of the prime minister said.

Changes were implemented in the Security and Crisis Management Council and the Economic Council of the Georgian government, the statement said.

Business Ombudsman Giorgi Gakharia took over the chairmanship of the Economic Council, said the press service.

"Roman Chkhenkeli, who did an excellent job creating an effective institution, requested on numerous occasions to be relieved of his duties as Chair of the Economic Council," the statement of the press service said.

"The Prime Minister upheld his request. After Mindia Janelidze was appointed Minister of Defense, the office of Chair of the Security and Crisis Management Council remained vacant. Davit Sujashvili, the head of the Georgian Intelligence Service, will take over this office. He has vast experience in working on state security issues."

It is also reported that Nodar Javakhishvili, who headed the ex-Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili's Kartu Bank, was appointed as the Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development.

Zaza Dolidze was recently appointed as the head of the National Food Agency, the press service of the prime minister said.

The press service also said that Kakhaber Sologhashvili was appointed as the head of the Department of Environmental Supervision.

In the next few days, the name of the new head of the State Insurance Supervision Service will also be announced, the statement said.

Fresh and professional human resources are a precondition for the successful operation of state agencies. Constant replenishment and improvement address new challenges and aim to ensure greater effectiveness in the work of the government.
