Five Daesh militants suspected of being involved in Thursday's killing of a Turkish officer have been killed, Turkish Prime Ministry sources said Friday, Anadolu Agency reported.

A non-commissioned Turkish officer, Yalcin Nane, was killed and two Turkish sergeants were injured when gunfire believed to be coming from the direction of Syria hit the uniformed personnel in Turkey's southern Kilis province Thursday.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu visited the Prime Ministry's coordination center Friday and attended a meeting with senior security officials and cabinet ministers to discuss developments in the aftermath of the officer's killing.

Deputy Prime Minister Yalcın Akdogan, Second President of General Staff Yasar Guler, Justice Minister Kenan Ipek and Celalettin Lekesiz, the director-general of security department were also present in the meeting.

Air force commanders informed Davutoglu about the airstrikes that targeted Daesh positions across the border in Syria Friday.

Sources said that the officials were briefed about the "very successful" operations that hit the main targets, without causing any damage to nearby buildings.

On Friday, Turkish F-16 fighter jets hit three Daesh targets in Syria in the morning. Turkish jets carried out the operation without violating the Syrian airspace, according to a statement by the Prime Ministry.
