CHAIRS OF CONSTITUTION COURTS OF CE MEET IN BAKU

The 4th session of the Joint Council of head of the Constitution Courts of the Council of Europe started in Baku on Thursday, Trend reports

Organized by the CE Venice Commission the two-day gathering will focus on the fair constitutional justice, as well as internal constitution jurisprudence of the CE member-countries, cooperation between the Constitution Courts of

and their Secretariats, exchange of information, definition of ways for further interaction and conduct of seminars, use of opportunities of Internet for the judges’ activities. The agenda of the meeting also includes the consideration of the cooperation among the Constitution Courts of CE countries and Asia and Africa.

In his opening remarks Farhad Aliyev, the chairman of the Constitution Court of Azerbaijan, said that the country has cooperated with the Venice Commission since 1998. He explained the success of the cooperation with the Secretary General of the organization, Janny Bukikkio. Abdullayev said that the meeting targets holding exchange of information among the Constitution Courts of the European countries and removal of disagreements could play a considerable role in ensuring human rights. В"The Constitution Court of Azerbaijan, as a young establishment, attaches more and more attention to many year-experience of the European countries,” Abdullayev underlined.

“My visit is of technical character as we closely cooperate with the Constitution Court of Azerbaijan. The gathering brought together representatives of the Constitution Courts of all European countries to discuss the state of cooperation among them,” Bukikkio told journalists. We decided to arrange the meeting in Baku, as such events are well organized here. As more Azerbaijan cooperates with the European bodies as more it will benefit. We try to promote the cooperation in all spheres,В" Bukikkio noted.
