Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 January / Trend corr. P.Aliyeva / The strong frost paralyzed the water-severage system of the Lankaran region of Azerbaijan. Maharram Mammadov, the chief of the Searage System Department in Lankaran, told Trend that the 25th pumps of the station and sub-station, which supplies buildings with water in the 1st and 2nd micro regions, frozen.
The strong frost has been continuing in Azerbaijan a week. The National Hydrometeorology Department reported that such weather conditions would continue to 14 January.
According to Mammadov, the water supply to 2,087 subscribers was suspended due to such weather conditions and damage of water pumps.
The damage caused as a result of frosty weather has been calculated. The private staff consisting of 47 people has been working in medium security.
Lankaran region is located 270km south of Baku.
