Violation of Traffic Rules Becomes Frequent in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / Violation of traffic rules increased by 122,238 offences during the nine months of 2007 compared the same period in 2006.

The Central State Traffic Police Department at the Interior Minister, reported to Trend Agency that police filed some 682,772 violations of traffic rules within nine months. Some 16,605 violated traffic rules in a state of intoxication, 126,135 - for speeding, 66,275 - violation of passing rules and 7,289 - passenger transport rules.

About 90 offences linked to violation of safety belts by drivers and passengers were revealed.

Driving licences were taken away from 2,089 drivers during the nine months of 2007. Some 173,000 drivers were fined.
