Ilhamgizi / The current format of election committees should be retained to enable efficient and fair election process, the Deputy Chairman of the governing New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), who is also the Executive Secretary of party, Ali Ahmadov, said to journalist on 9 November.
The discussions over improvement of Azerbaijani Election Code organized by the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe (CE) and involving political parties took place on 9 November.
The number of the proposals made during the discussion was equal to that of the participants, Ahmadov said when commenting on the results of the meeting. According to Ahmadov, only real suggestions will be taken into consideration.
For instance, the suggestion for election committees to include only the parties which took part in the parliamentary elections is just not serious, he said. "In case the Parliament receives suggestions regarding changes in the Election Code they will be pout for discussion."
Election committees should not be politicized and therefore in future they may be formed not only of political parties, Ahmadov said.
