Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 January / Trend corr. S.Agayeva / A group of MPs from the Republic of Dagestan will visit Azerbaijan today.
Within the framework of the visit the MPs intend to become familiar with the current standard of national minorities such as the Lezgis, the permanent representative of Dagestan in Azerbaijan reported on 22 January. The MPs will visit the regions of Azerbaijan which borders with Russia and is heavily populated with Lezgis. The MPs are expected to meet with heads of the Executive Power in the regions.
Under the census of records held in 1999, about 198,000 Lazgins live in Azerbaijan. They reside mainly in Gusar, Guba, Oguz, Ismayilli and Gabala regions of Azerbaijan.
