Azerbaijan, Baku, 23 January / corr. Trend S. Ilhamgizi/ There are real opposition and political powers in Azerbaijan, Azadlig bloc says. "The powers that are of the "velvet" relations with the Government, while operating under the name of opposition, are trying to be a part of the political processes," Ali Aliyev, the co-chairman of Azadlig bloc said to Trend.

Bloc considers itself to be a real opposition, and says that the public can easily tell who the real opposition is, from the parties trying to represent themselves as such. "Any political party which is not represented in the Government, is an opposition. However, this is not the case in Azerbaijan. There are enough politicians, pretending to be an opposition and sticking to different views many a time," Aliyev said.

The oppositional party Adalat does not accept the positions of the parties included in Azadlig bloc. "No one has a right to blame others because they are oppositionists," Ilyas Ismayilov, the chairman of Adalat party, MP said. "The frequent statements 'opposition established by the Government' is nonsense. The attempts to determine the boundaries of the opposition are groundless. No one has the right to monopolize the name of opposition. All of them serve their nation, simply each of them has their own way," he added.

The Azadlig bloc includes three oppositional parties such as Popular Front of Azerbaijan, Liberal Party and the party of Citizens and Development.

Adalat Ismayilov, the chairman of the oppositional party Adalat was nominated for presidency in the 2003 presidential elections in Azerbaijan. At present, he an MP of Azerbaijani parliament.
