Turkish Parliament Receives Appeal to Recognize Khojali Tragedy as Genocide

Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 February /corr. Trend E.Huseynli/ On 13 February nearly 300 NGOs and municipalities of Turkish regions of Kars, Igdir and Erdogan made an appeal to the Parliament of Turkey for recognizing Khojali Tragedy as genocide, the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Kars, Hasan Zeynalov, reported to Trend by telephone on 13 February.

In night from 25 to 26 February the Armed Forces of Armenia committed genocide in Azerbaijan's district of Khojali. As a result, 613 peaceful people were killed, including 63 children, 106 women and 70 old people.

Zeynalov added that supported by Heydar Aliyev Foundation and organized by Consulate and Igdir Municipality, an international conference dedicated to Khojali tragedy will take place in Berlin on 23-26 February. The conference will bring together nearly 50 diplomats, scientists, historians, military specialists, as well as representatives of Azerbaijan Parliament.
