Preparations are underway for the Azerbaijan-Lithuania intergovernmental meeting on economic cooperation scheduled for the first quarter of 2010, Vilijus Samuila, First Secretary of the Lithuanian Embassy in Azerbaijan, told Trend .
"Lithuania is very interested in economic cooperation with Azerbaijan," he said. "The Azerbaijan-Lithuania meeting will give a new impetus to the development of these relations."
According to the diplomat, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė will soon approve a co-chair and the staff of the economic commission. Earlier this function was performed by Foreign Minister Vygaudas Usackas, who was dismissed from his post with a presidential decree.
Moreover, work on several agreements on bilateral cooperation is also underway, the diplomat said.
