The Netherlands does not recognize the so-called parliamentary "elections" in Nagorno Karabakh and supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, the Dutch Foreign Ministry said in a letter addressed to the Azerbaijani Embassy in The Hague.

The FM also expressed confidence in the OSCE Minsk Group in the letter.

The separatist regime held unlawful elections in Nagorno Karabakh May 23. Many international organizations, including the EU, U.N., and OSCE refused to recognize the elections.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the United States - are currently holding the peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh region and the occupied territories.
