Astana mulls OSCE -NATO cooperation

The OSCE Chairman, Kazakh Secretary of State and Foreign Minister, Kanat Saudabayev, and NATO Special Representative for the South Caucasus Robert Simmons mulled the issues of the OSCE-NATO cooperation, as well as regional security, particularly in Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan, Kazakh Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ilyas Omarov told Trend.

"In addition, referring to the interaction in the OSCE-NATO format, the sides discussed issues on the agenda of the upcoming OSCE Astana Summit to be held Dec.1-2, including the organization's cooperation with NATO on Afghanistan, which is one of the key priorities of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the military political dimension," Omarov said.

The sides also discussed Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's forthcoming visit to Belgium.
  

"Simmons said President Nazarbayev's visit is supposed to be held by late October," Omarov added.
