President ilham aliyev has attended yesterday the opening ceremony of the Kur Olympic Training and Sports center in Mingachevir city, AzerTAj state news agency reports.
Here, the Head of State and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva were warmly welcomed by the event participants.
President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the center and toured it.
Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov told the President the rowing base built in the center was unique one not only in the CIS, but also in Europe.
During his trip to Mingachevir in 2004, President Ilham Aliyev visited the former Kur rowing base and gave instructions to upgrade it. The construction of the base started in 2007.
The complex includes administrative building, swimming pool, a hotel, sports hall, rowing club, tennis court, hangar and cottage.
President Ilham Aliyev viewed the judges` tower, pool, sports hall, hangar and hotel. The Head of State also took a motorboat trip along this part of the Kur River.
Then, the Head of State met with sportsmen and local residents.
