The U.S. hope to continue negotiations with Kyrgyzstan on the presence of the country's Manas transit center in Bishkek, CA-News quotes Robert Blake, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs as saying, Asia-Plus reported.
"Kyrgyzstan continues supporting the Manas transit centre as a means of cargo transportation to Afghanistan, and we plan to continue the negotiations with Kyrgyzstan on this issue and hope for their positive outcome," Blake said.
He thanked Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev for prolonging Manas's lease agreement until mid-2014.
Blake also underlined that the U.S. is not going to open new military bases in this region.
